Greetings from Weisstannen

Weisstannen is a pretty little Swiss village surrounded by mountains and boasting an arena you can see four spectacular waterfalls from. It is also an entry point to the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona.

Before or after you go on a hike, though, you can enjoy a refreshment in the almost 250 years old former post office. While you sip a homemade syrup and maybe indulge on a handmade meringue, you most probably can’t take your eyes off of all the charming items and details originating from days long gone.

Greetings from Afro-Pfingsten

It is that time of the year again… you hear drums, your body and especially your hips move with the rhythm, you smell fire, fish, and sunscreen, you see more colourfully dressed people than usual (thank goodness!), and you see smiles and content faces everywhere.

It is when Africa takes centre stage in a Swiss city.

It is Afro-Pfingsten Festival in Winterthur.

She stole my heart. Do you see the elderly lady looking out the window in the top middle image? I dared to take a picture without asking her as she had this big contagious smile in her face moving her body with the rhythm of Ma belle chérie we were all listening to (on stage in the photo to the right of her).

Let’s do it like her: Keep smiling and dancing forever!

Are you in the mood now to listen to some African rhythms? Then watch the videos in my other Afro-Pfingsten post.

Warm greetings and have a wonderful (long) weekend,

Daniela

P.S.: As you know, the sea means a LOT to me. So now, as if needed ;-), I found evidence why the ocean is that essential:

Delightful December

A warm welcome, dearest readers!

Many of you enjoy summer now, some of you experience warm temperatures and around twelve hours of daylight all year round, and a lot of us see the days rapidly getting shorter and the nights becoming longer at this time of the year.

That is why I thought to share a little collage of those long dark nights in December, which actually become quite sparkling and twinkling in our cities.

A little greeting from my neighbourhood

Hello my friends

How are you at the beginning of this new month? Can you believe it is already November? Where did that year go?

Today, I simply like to share some impressions of my neighbourhood while I am recovering from surgery (phew, so happy all went well and it now lies behind me!).

I visit this place regularly and love to go there with my bike, for a stroll on my own, with my beloved hubby, and with friends. Almost every time I am here – including today’s story -, something special happens. Once when I was sitting by the little stream, for example, a dragonfly would come and sit on my bare foot to enjoy the last sunrays of the day, fly off from time to time and come back again. Mostly, she sat on my foot when she could have chosen to sit anywhere. I do have pictures of the encounter but thought you may not be that interested in seeing my foot 😜.
