Once upon a time when Ladybird was on her way to work and just got off the train, she was stunned to see a mallard (Stockente in German) walking around on the other platform.

What the heck! She did not believe her eyes. What was the animal doing here in the middle of a very busy city quarter away from the lake and several meters below street level?

Ladybird stood still for a while watching the duck as people around her minded their own business. She soon realised that the duck was calling and immediately thought: “Oh my, this is mummy looking for her young ones. I’d better help her.” Read more

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish those of you who celebrate a very Merry Christmas. May it be full of love, peace, and laughter.

Spending some time on Lanzarote we attended a concert by Christmas Voices. We were not only pampered with Christmas carols, but also got to hear some stories. One stuck to my mind and even though it was written around hundred years ago, it has a great meaning still today. More so, I think, it is quite independent from any religion and much more resonates with a kind and mindful everyday attitude. The only thing that has luckily changed is the use of gender words. Delightful December

A warm welcome, dearest readers!

Many of you enjoy summer now, some of you experience warm temperatures and around twelve hours of daylight all year round, and a lot of us see the days rapidly getting shorter and the nights becoming longer at this time of the year.
