Cherry cherry lady…….   hold on…..  it is Cheri Cheri lady :-). The title of this post somehow reminded me of that song from the Eighties and it got stuck in my head. There it stayed that catchy tune and I don’t want to withhold it from your mind and ears, so here you go: Cheri Cheri Lady.

Now let’s turn our eyes and ears to the cherries and the other fruit trees that were or still are blooming in our latitudes. Apples, pears, and quince still do, cherries’ spectacle only lasts for a mere two weeks usually a bit before the other fruit trees come into blossom. So you have to be on it in order not to miss it. It was a dream of mine to take a photograph of one of those roads winding through cherry groves. This year I took the chance. After my father sent me pictures from his drive through THE region in Switzerland where you can see cherry trees everywhere, and roads winding through them, my hubby and I looked for a place to get to by public transport (we don’t have a car). Buuseregg in Basel-Land was the place we decided to go. The region has a very helpful website where you can find your own way of how you want to observe the happening: Baselland-Tourismus.

Already the bus ride up there was a joy and to my heart’s delight, the cherries were still in full bloom and gilded the green landscape with their white flowers. Some started to have a shimmer of green as the leaves were now slowly emerging as well. A blue clear sky formed the background.

Oh, my! I could have watched this canvas forever. A gentle fresh green, a delicate white, and a bright blue. Have a look yourself and I truly hope you enjoy this as much as I did and still do.

We begin with the moment when the buds are still closed but grow bigger until they open up into the delicate white flowers.

The same with apples and pears. Their buds have an even more tender look, I find, with their beautiful pinkish touch.
